Presentation of New Anthology of Contemporary Udmurt Children’s Literature

On November 26, Publishing House "Udmurtia" and the National Library of the Udmurt Republic held a presentation of the new anthology "Tuala Udmurt Nylpi Literature" [Contemporary Udmurt Children's Literature] timed to the Day of the Udmurt Language.

This publication has been produced with the financial support of the Government of the Udmurt Republic in celebration of the 100th anniversary of Udmurtia’s statehood. "Tuala Udmurt Nylpi Literature" is the third volume of the anthology series. The previous two volumes – "Tuala Udmurt Poetry" ("Contemporary Udmurt Poetry") and "Tuala Udmurt Prose" ("Contemporary Udmurt Prose") – took place in February 2020.

 

The new anthology comprises poems, stories, tales and sketches by 41 authors with brief biographical notes on them. Among them are well-known adult and children’s writers (Vyacheslav Ar-Sergi, Lydia Chernova, Oleg Chetkarev, Vasily Vanyushev, Veniamin Ivshin, Alexei Yeltsov, Semyon Karpov, Liya Malykh, Ulfat Badretdinov, Alexander Laptev), and talented emerging authors (Elena Bogdanova, Nadezhda Shklyaeva).

 

The publication is beautifully illustrated with more than 350 drawings by 16 artists: Mikhail Vakhrin, Vasily Mustaev, Natalya Isaeva, Tatyana Nemtseva, Vyacheslav Mikhailov and some other.

 

The anthology has been published with a circulation of 2 200 copies, some of them will be sent to municipal and school libraries of Udmurtia.

 

The anthology was compiled by Sergey Vasilievich Matveev, poet and prose writer, editor, member of the Union of Writers of the Russian Federation.

 

The presentation of the anthology was accompanied by the exhibition of books from the National Library of the Udmurt Republic collections reflecting the development of Udmurt children's literature.
