Annual Reading Aloud Competition in Udmurt Language "Muso Shaerme Danyasa" ("Glorifying Beloved Land")

The first annual reading aloud competition of the city of Izhevsk "Muso shaerme danyasa" ("Glorifying the beloved land") took place on 4 December on the premises of the National Library of the Udmurt Republic.

The competition was dedicated to the 100th anniversary of the book publishing house "Udmurtia" and was organized by the Center for Educational Innovations in cooperation with the methodological union of teachers of the Udmurt language and literature, and supported by the book publishing house "Udmurtia".

 

The competition was aimed at promoting the Udmurt language, at fostering learners’ interest in it and contributing to their national identity development.

 

The competition was held among pupils of grades 1-4, 5-7, 8-11 of secondary schools; teachers of the Udmurt language and literature. The participants were challenged to read from the poets celebrating centenary in 2019: Daniil Yashin, German Kirillov, Daniil Mayorov, Eric Batuev. The jury consisted of members of the Union of Writers of the Udmurt Republic, teachers, cultural and art figures, representatives of the book publishing house "Udmurtia", children’s print media, the National Library of the Udmurt Republic and the All-Udmurt association "Udmirt kenesh".
