Festive Meeting to National Library of Udmurt Republic's 100th Anniversary

On 23 May at 11 am the State Council of the Udmurt Republic’s sessions hall will host a festive meeting on the 100th anniversary of the National Library of the Udmurt Republic and the All-Russian Day of Libraries.

Congratulations and good wishes to the largest library of Udmurtia will be given by local government leaders, heads of cultural, educational and scientific institutions, municipal libraries, social organizations, sponsors.

 

The program of the event features:

  • presentation of state awards of the Udmurt Republic to the best cultural workers;
  • summing up the results of the regional reading promotion contest for the Prize named after Z. Bogomolova;
  • summing up the results of the regional contest "Best Children's Library";
  • presentation of commemorative signs "The Donor of the Year 2018" in support of books and reading;
  • awarding the titles of "Honorary Reader of the National Library of the Udmurt Republic".

The ceremonial meeting will be accompanied by literary, artistic and vocal performances by readers of different generations and local music bands.

 

Immediately before the event (from 10.00 to 10.55 am) the opening of book exhibitions "History of the Library - History of the Republic", "Library of the Future", and the exhibition of library equipment "Contemporary Library" will take place on-site, in the lobby of the conference hall.

 

At the end of the festive meeting at 3.30 pm, Michael Archangel Cathedral of Izhevsk (K. Marx St., 222) will host the opening of the book exhibition "The Art of Book Decoration" dedicated to the Day of Slavic Writing and Culture. The exposition will display some early books printed in Cyrillic script, facsimile editions of monuments of Slavic writing, materials on the history of book decoration, interesting examples of contemporary typography art from the collections of the Division of Rare and Valuable Documents of the National Library of the Udmurt Republic.
