Lecture "Izhevsk in the Years of the Great Patriotic War" by S. Selivanovskiy

On 8 May at 1 pm Center for National and Local History Literature and Bibliography of National Library of Udmurt Republic (Udmurtskaya St. 264) is hosting a lecture by S. N. Selivanovskiy "Izhevsk in the Years of the Great Patriotic War" timed to Victory Day.

Sergey Nikolayevich Selivanovskiy is the chairman of the Department of History and Local History at the International Slavic Academy of Sciences, Education, Arts and Culture (Izhevsk branch); an engineer, a teacher, a well-known local historian and photographer, who has taken photos of Izhevsk and its residents since 1949.

During the years of the War Izhevsk provided the front with more than 11 million small arms. What other contribution did Izhevsk make to the Great Victory? This question will be thoroughly addressed at the lecture by S. Selivanovskiy.

Sergey Nikolaevich will also outline the fate of German prisoners of war in Izhevsk (in 1945 two camps of prisoners located in Udmurtia were transferred to Izhevsk) and their use in urban construction.

All are welcome to attend. Admission is free.
