Presentation of Multimedia Reference Edition “Contemporary Udmurt Writers”

On May 27 at 4 pm the "Udmurt Krai" Club of Division of Local History and Finno-Ugrian Literature of National Library of Udmurt Republic (Udmurtskaya St., 264) is hosting a presentation of multimedia biographical and bibliographical reference edition in Russian and Udmurt "Contemporary Udmurt Writers".

The edition has been released by the National Library of the Udmurt Republic with support from the Kindred Peoples Programme (1994–2012) coordinated by M. A. Castrén Society (1994-2012) and financed by the Ministry of Culture and Education of Finland.


From 2013 M. A. Castrén Society is continuing to carry out joint Russian-Finnish projects under a new grant program "Finno-Ugrian Cultural Cooperation with Russia" developed by the Ministry of Culture and Education of Finland and aimed at building partnership and cooperation in the following areas: "Support and Development of Cultures of Finno-Ugrian Peoples in Multi-Cultural Society", "Support and Development of Languages of Finno-Ugrian Peoples", "Development of Finno-Ugrian Cooperation in Cultural Sector by Non-Government Organizations".


Multimedia biographical and bibliographical reference edition "Contemporary Udmurt Writers" provides a unique opportunity to gain a systematic view of modern literary process in Udmurtia and to learn more about certain Udmurt writers. The edition features personal portfolios of 39 authors comprising the following details: 

  • information about authors’ personal and creative life;
  • excerpts from literary works vividly illustrating peculiarities of author’s style;
  • bibliographic list of author’s works and critical publications in Russian and Udmurt with hyperlinks to full-texts available at the National Electronic Library;
  • photographs from authors’ personal archieves;
  • audio records (autobiographical interviews, writers reading their own poetry, prose works and plays).

The reference edition is available on DVDs and online.


The presentation will be participated by representatives of the Ministry of National policy of the Udmurt Republic, members of union of Udmurt writers, Udmurt state University, writers and journalists.
