On May 26-27 National Library of Udmurt Republic is staging the book exhibition "Oil of Udmurtia: Years and Names" at the Oil and Gas Institute named after M. S. Gutseriev (the Udmurt State University).
The exhibition is part of the All-Russian Scientific-Practical Conference with International Participation "Oil and Gas Extraction Technologies. The Mineral Resources Potential (Russian and World Experience)", dedicated to the 85th anniversary of Doctor of Engineering Science, academician, founder of the oil industry higher education in the Udmurt Republic V. I. Kudinov and the 5th anniversary of the Oil and Gas Institute named after M. S. Gutseriev.
The first section of the exhibition – "Oil Portfolio of Udmurtia" – unveils the major stages, milestones and prospects of the oil industry development in the Udmurt Republic. Among the rare items on display are the 1867 edition of "Materialy dlya Geologii Vyatskoj Gubernii" ("The materials for Vyatka Governorate Geology") by Pyotr I. Krotov, a prominent geologist of the late XIX century. The second section of the exhibition – "A Profession for the Strong and Resilient" – features books and periodicals about the oil industry professionals of Udmurtia.
The exhibition's focus is on the life and work of the "patriarch of Udmurt oil" Valentin Ivanovich Kudinov. A selection of academic publications (monographs, articles, study books), biographical materials, memoirs of colleagues, students and successors illustrates the wealth of the academician’s heritage.
