“Read Aloud from Konstantin Ivanov” International Campaign

On May 15 National Library of Udmurt Republic is inviting everyone to take part in loud readings from the Chuvash classic author Konstantin Ivanov as part of the international campaign “Read Aloud from Konstantin Ivanov” and the Year of Literature in Russia. The event will take place at 11 am near T. Borisov’s monument (Kommunarov St., 249).

On May 27 the Chuvash Republic is celebrating the 125th anniversary of its world-famous poet, prose writer, playwright, translator, folklorist, painter and founder of its national literature – Konstantin Vasilyevich Ivanov (1890–1915). To mark this occasion Chuvashia has declared 2015 as the Year of Konstantin Ivanov and has initiated the international campaign “Read Aloud from Konstantin Ivanov” offering all admirers of K. Ivanov’s talent throughout Russia and abroad to read passages from his works on May 15. The campaign aims to attract public attention to K. Ivanov’s heritage and to inspire literary research.

With K. V. Ivanov’s fame being so great, and his talent being so highly and internationally respected, the National Library of the Udmurt Republic considers it an honor to support the Chuvash Republic's initiative and to join the read aloud campaign. The forthcoming event in Izhevsk will feature readings of passages from K. V. Ivanov’s brilliant narrative poem "Narspi" translated into Russian and Udmurt.

The event will be participated by librarians, teachers, students and pupils.
All are welcome to join or to attend.
