Online Lecture by G. Gorelik “The Notion of Scientific Truth: Yesterday, Today, Tomorrow”

On November 19 at 3 pm National Library of Udmurt Republic (Republican Library for the Blind, Lomonosova St., 9) is organizing online broadcasting of lecture by Gennady Gorelik “The Notion of Scientific Truth: Yesterday, Today, Tomorrow” organized as part of the “Dynasty” Foundation and supported by the Book Institute.

We often hear news like “The British scientists proved…” bringing a certain “truth” supposed to be one of the latest scientific triumphs. How the notion of scientific truth has changed throughout history and in what way is it different from mathematical or ethical truths will be raised in a lecture by Historian of Physics Gennady Gorelik.

Gennady Efimovich Gorelik (presently working as a researcher at the Center for Philosophy and History of Science, Boston University) authored dozens of books and articles on history of physics and social history of science. He wrote biographies of M. P. Bronstein, V. A. Fock, A. D. Sakharov, L. D. Landau. G. Gorelik’s book “Who Did Invent the Modern Physics. From the Galilean Pendulum to Quantum Gravitation” was short-listed for “Prosvetitel-2014” Award.

All are welcome to attend.
