Online Lecture by Boris Shtern “100 Years of Cosmology: from Einstein to the Latest Planck Results”

On October 28 at 5 pm Internet Access and Training Center of National Library of Udmurt Republic (Republican Library for the Blind, Lomonosova St., 9) is organizing online broadcasting of lecture by Boris Shtern “100 Years of Cosmology: from Einstein to the Latest Planck Results”organized as part of the “Dynasty” Foundation and supported by the Book Institute.

What is the Universe and how did it form? How was it so finely “tuned up” to make possible the existence of humans? Are there any other universes? It might seem amazing but the answers to these questions are generally known. They were found as part of two revolutions in cosmology. The first one started in 1961 after publication of Einstein’s theory of general relativity and ended in the late 1920s with the discovery of Hubble's law. The second revolution started in the early 1980s with the development of inflationary hypothesis and is finishing nowadays with the brilliant confirmation of the theory of inflation.

These and other issues will be raised in a lecture by Boris Shtern, Doctor of Physical and Mathematical Sciences, head scientist researcher of the Institute for Nuclear Research of the Russian Academy of Sciences (Troitsk) and Astro-Cosmic Center of P. N. Lebedev Physical Institute, chief editor of journal “Troitsk Variant - Science”. Boris Shtern’s book “Breakthrough over the Edge of the World” has been shortlisted for the Prosvetitel 2014 Award.

All are welcome to attend.
