Online Lecture by Asya Kazantseva “What is More Unhealthy — To Smoke or To be Overweight?”

On September 30 at 11 am Internet Access and Training Center of National Library of Udmurt Republic (Republican Library for the Blind, Lomonosova St., 9) is organizing online broadcasting of the lecture by Asya Kazantseva “What is More Unhealthy — to Smoke or to Be Overweight?” organized as part of the "Dynasty” Foundation and supported by the Book Institute.

Our brain seeks to derive pleasures. Throughout millions of years of evolution such necessity has been considered right and reasonable — people used to have no drugs, no abundance of food so actions bringing pleasures were actually favorable for survival. In modern civilization it is easy to get carried away by the pleasures which are really bad for our health. The most widespread are overnutrition or hyperalimentation and nicotine addiction. Do they have something in common? Are they really in conflict to each other? And if one can’t stop being addicted, what habit is less unhealthy?

These and other issues will be raised by Asya Kazantseva, biologist, science journalist, deputy editor in chief at “Zdorovye” (“Health’) journal, author of the book “Who Would Have Thought It! How Our Brain Makes Us Do Foolish Things” — finalist of the Prosvetitel-2014 Award.

All are welcome to attend.
