Meeting with the Young Actors of the National Theatre of the Udmurt Republic

On September 29 at 5 pm the Centre of National and Local History Literature and Bibliography of the National Library of the Udmurt Republic (Udmurtskaya St., 264) is organizing a regular meeting of the “Udmurt Krai” Club — “From Play to Performance: Meeting with the Young Actors of the National Theatre of the Udmurt Republic”.

The young Udmurt actors — recent graduates of the Shchepkin High Theatre School will talk about their début at the oldest scene of the Republic in the play by a famous Udmurt playwright A. Grigoryev “Эмезь кисьмаку”.

The comedy portraying realities of the Yeltsin epoch and opening the 84th theatre season has not been staged at the National Theatre of the Udmurt Republic for quite a long time (its premiere took place in 1994). What is the reason of the recent revival of the interest in postperestroika and the return of the play to the scene? Participants of the meeting will have a chance to address this and other questions directly to the author — Anatoliy Leontyevich Grigoryev who will be present at the event.

Doctor of philology, professor Tatyana Ivanovna Zaitseva will give her feedback on the play “Эмезь кисьмаку” and other drama works by “the master of an original village comedy” (as theatre critics name A. L. Grigoryev).

Head of the literary section of the National Theatre of the Udmurt Republic Natalya Ivanovna Panfilova will present a repertoire for a new season and share the theatre’s plans and prospects.

The meeting will be accompanied by the book exhibition “Udmurt Plays on the Theatre Stage” staged by the Centre of National and Local History Literature and Bibliography of the National Library of the Udmurt Republic. The exhibition displays classic works of Udmurt literature (I. Gavrilov “Кезьыт ошмес”, V. Sadovnikov “Тыло вӧсь”, N. Samsonov “Вунэтэм шундыберган” and some other), forming “a golden fund” of the national dramaturgy, as well as works by the contemporary Udmurt playwrights, reference and encyclopedic items.

The working languages of the meeting - Russian and Udmurt.

All are welcome to attend.
