Events at National Library of Udmurt Republic as Part of Action "From Book Pages to Olympic Heights!"

National Library of Udmurt Republic is joining All-Russian Library Action for Young Readers Under the Motto "From Book Pages to Olympic Heights!" starting on January 31, initiated by the Organizing Committee "Sochi-2014" and Russian Library Association .

From February 3 to 28 Readers Service Division of National Library of Udmurt Republic (Udmurtskaya St., 199) is staging the exhibition "The Winter Olympics 1924-2014: from the History of the Olympic Games". Displayed books, encyclopedic and reference publications, articles from periodicals reveal the history of the first Olympic Winter Games (1924, France), sport disciplines comprising past Olympic programs, famous Russian and Udmurt champions of Winter Olympics. Excursion to the exhibition features demonstration of the video presentation "From the History of the Winter Olympics" outlining Olympic triumphs of Russian sportsmen (1960, Squaw Valley; 1964, Innsbruck; 1972, Sapporo).

 

From February 3 to 28 Center of National Literature, Bibliography and Local History of National Library of Udmurt Republic (Udmurtskaya St., 264) is displaying the exhibition "Udmurtia: from Mass Sport to Olympic Medals". First section of the exhibition — "Sporting Udmurtia" — displays materials about the development of sport in the Udmurt Republic with a special attention to the rural sport games: in 2014 rural winter sport games mark its 20th anniversary. The section "Heroes of Sport" praises the highest achievements of Udmurt sportsmen in sports competitions of various levels — Russian, European and World Championships. The third section — "Olympians" — is dedicated to the eminent sportsmen of Udmurtia who have ever won the Olympic games and to the members of the 2014 Russia's Olympic team.

 

On February 6 at 3 pm Readers Service Division of National Library of Udmurt Republic (Udmurtskaya St., 199) is hosting the "Erudite-Quartet" game "All about the Olympic Games" among pupils of comprehensive secondary schools. The game will be hosted by Vice-President of Izhevsk Club of "What? Where? When?" Intellectual Games Mikhail Estrin.

 

From February 7 to 23 — during the ХХII Olympic Winter Games in Sochi — Readers Service Division of National Library of Udmurt Republic (Udmurtskaya St., 199) is staging the exhibition "The Olympic Diary".

 

All are welcome to attend. We arrange group excursions on request.
